Natalie Harp's influence and loyalty controversy
Entities: Donald J. Trump · Natalie Harp
Overview
In late June 2026 a newly released book quoted former President Donald Trump saying his 34‑year‑old aide Natalie Hart “will never leave me” and that she loves him as much as his wife and children. The book portrayed Harp as a constant presence in the White House, handling routine tasks, drafting Truth Social posts and earning the nickname “human printer” for carrying a portable printer that supplies the president with hard‑copy news items, drafts and personal notes. Her estranged brother Preston, who lives in Nicaragua, told the Daily Mail that the relationship is “very unhealthy,” called Trump a “national embarrassment,” and said the family had long concealed the circumstances of their father’s 2020 suicide. The White House pushed back, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt describing Harp as “one of the most loyal and hardest‑working aides.” Secret Service agents warned that Harp’s proximity could pose security risks, and several administration staff members expressed “appalled” reactions, fearing her sycophantic behavior might influence the president’s information flow and decision‑making. On July 1 Preston reiterated that Harp’s devotion stems from a search for a father figure and that she views Trump as embodying U.S. exceptionalism. The White House again defended her loyalty. By late July Harp, a special and executive assistant earning $150,000 annually, remained a visible fixture in the Oval Office, at official events, golf outings and during White House renovation tours, often still carrying her portable printer. Senior Republicans, including Senator John Barrasso, called her “an extra set of eyes and ears” and a key conduit for information. She was observed with Trump inspecting renovations to the North Portico, after which the president posted before‑and‑after photos on Truth Social.
