Trump diplomatic photo authenticity debate

During the United Nations General Assembly in New York, U.S. President Donald Trump met with several Balkan leaders, including representatives from Kosovo, Albania, Serbia, and North Macedonia.

Following the release of photographs from these meetings, social media users and observers noted that Trump appeared in nearly identical poses, expressions, and lighting across multiple images. This visual consistency sparked online conspiracy theories suggesting the images were AI-generated, digitally manipulated, or featured a wax figure or cardboard cutout.

Fact-checkers and news agencies, including Reuters and the Associated Press, have clarified that the photographs are authentic. The uniformity is attributed to strict diplomatic protocol during the ‘UNGA Leaders’ Reception’ held at the Lotte New York Palace. To manage high-density schedules, official White House photographers utilized fixed angles, specific standing points, and consistent lighting to facilitate rapid-fire photo opportunities as delegations approached the President one by one. The resulting images were then distributed to the respective embassies, creating the appearance of identical shots when viewed side-by-side. Major news agencies noted that their ethical codes prohibit the digital alteration of documentary or diplomatic imagery.
