The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has introduced ‘Gateside by TSA PreCheck,’ a pilot program that allows vetted, non-ticketed individuals to pass through security checkpoints to access airport gates and amenities. To participate, individuals must hold TSA PreCheck benefits or a Known Traveler Number (KTN) and register via Login.gov one to three days in advance. While the program is free for eligible members, those without acceptable identification may utilize TSA ConfirmID for a $45 fee. The initiative is designed to allow visitors to meet arriving passengers, see off travelers, or use airport dining and shopping. These high-resolution scanners utilize automated detection algorithms to distinguish between potable water and dangerous liquids without requiring passengers to open their bags.
