Turkey C-130J Super Hercules procurement

Overview

Turkey is scheduled to receive its first two of twelve C-130J-30 Super Hercules transport aircraft from the United Kingdom in December. These aircraft, formerly used by the Royal Air Force, are undergoing maintenance and modernization at Marshall Aerospace facilities in Cambridge.

The acquisition follows a defense agreement between Ankara and London to address transport capacity gaps in the Turkish Air Force. To support the new fleet, Turkish pilots, technicians, and maintenance specialists are undergoing training in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Once training is complete, Turkey intends to manage routine maintenance of the aircraft domestically.
