Turkey is implementing digital transformations within its customs processes to facilitate trade and support its role as a regional logistics hub. In early July 2026, the Turkish Ministry of Trade launched a digital platform to automatically issue electronic A. TR Circulation Documents for e-export shipments to the European Union valued at €150 or less. This system, linked to the Simplified Customs Declaration, aims to reduce costs and manual paperwork for small- and medium-sized enterprises following the end of the EU’s de-minimis exemption. By late August 2026, the Ministry ~~expanded its support for exporters by updating~~ completed a technical restructuring of its Technical Barriers to Trade (TTE) Web Platform. This ~~restructured system enables businesses~~ updated system, which has been in operation since 2006, provides exporters with tools to ~~monitor~~ navigate international markets by accessing information on product safety regulations and technical ~~requirements in target markets,~~ barriers. Experts indicate a shift where inspections and risk analysis, potentially driven by artificial intelligence, begin before goods leave warehouses. This transition focuses on integrated data sharing to ensure faster transit times and maintain competitiveness within regional trade architectures like the Middle Corridor and the Development Road Project.
