In early July 2026, 2026 a gas explosion in an apartment building in Çorlu resulted in killed two fatalities. people. Less than a month later, in early August, a separate incident occurred gas cylinder ignited in the kitchen of a home house in the Balıklı Mahallesi neighbourhood of Mesudiye district, Ordu, where a gas cylinder ignited Ordu Province, while the homeowner, Adnan K., was cooking. The blast injured five people, who were treated at local hospitals. Local officials, including residents – the mayor of Mesudiye, homeowner and four neighbours (Yakup K., Erol A., Kamil A. and Ferda K.) – causing facial and bodily injuries. First‑aid teams treated them on site and they were taken to hospital. Mayor Cengiz Koçyiğit visited the victims and the expressed condolences. The gendarmerie began opened an investigation into the cause. The two events illustrate investigation.
