In late July 2026 Turkey’s indigenous fifth‑generation fighter program, KAAN, advanced progressed on two parallel fronts. On 26 July, TUSAŞ displayed showcased a dual‑flight demonstration at the Farnborough Airshow, signalling indicating that a second prototype was on schedule and that both aircraft were expected to fly side‑by‑side before year‑end, underscoring the project’s maturity and export ambitions. Five days later, on 31 July, TUSAŞ reported a successful taxi test of the KAAN‑1 twin‑engine prototype at its own facilities. The ground‑handling trial runway run confirmed engine‑piston integration, braking core systems – navigation, braking, and aerodynamic performance, engine‑piston synchronization – and indicated that showed the aircraft was nearing moving under its first flight later own power.
