Turkey-Saudi Arabia energy cooperation

Turkey and Saudi Arabia are deepening their energy cooperation through significant investments in both fossil fuel distribution and renewable energy infrastructure.

In late July 2026, Saudi Aramco entered advanced discussions to acquire a 30% stake in the Turkish fuel-distribution company Güzel Enerji, owned by the OYAK group. This potential partnership, aimed at securing a foothold in Turkey’s market of over 1,000 service stations, could involve rebranding existing stations with the Aramco logo. The deal is part of a broader strategic alliance supported by Saudi leadership.

By mid-August 2026, the bilateral cooperation expanded toward renewable energy. Following an initial agreement for 2 gigawatts of solar power in Sivas and Taseli, the two nations scheduled the signing of a new 3-gigawatt agreement during the COP31 conference in Antalya. This expansion, supported by up to $5 billion in investment, will bring the total capacity of their renewable energy framework to 5 gigawatts, incorporating solar, wind, and energy storage solutions.
