The nationwide programme of planned electricity and water interruptions that began in May 2026 has continued through mid-September. Outages are tied to network renewal, transformer replacement, line upgrades, and infrastructure modernization. By late August and early September, the disruptions have caused significant safety concerns and economic losses. In Manisa, a resident was trapped in an elevator for approximately 27 minutes following a sudden power cut. In Istanbul’s Beşiktaş district, prolonged outages led to business losses from spoiled goods and resident frustration over inaccurate restoration notifications. Scheduled maintenance continues to affect major regions. In early September, widespread outages were reported in Bursa, where 13 districts faced interruptions of up to 8 hours, and İzmir, where 21 districts were scheduled for grid strengthening. Antalya also faced outages in 11 districts, including Alanya. To improve energy security, a new 154 kV Dazkırı Transformer Center was commissioned in Afyonkarahisar. As of mid-September, maintenance activities have expanded across western, central, eastern, and southern provinces. In Van, an emergency repair on a 2000 mm diameter pipeline is causing a mandatory four-day water outage across four districts, including Edremit and İpekyolu. In Kahramanmaraş, planned water cuts are affecting the Onikişubat and Dulkadiroğlu districts, while Ankara faces water outages in Kazan, Altındağ, and Etimesgut due to infrastructure works and line damage. Electricity disruptions remain widespread. In Konya, Meram Elektrik Dağıtım Şirketi has announced a three-day maintenance program starting September 11, covering central and outlying districts. In Samsun, water cuts are scheduled across five districts, including Atakum and İlkadım, due to network faults. In Trabzon, water outages are expected in Araklı, Of, and Beşikdüzü caused by main network failures. New announcements for the weekend of September 12–13, 2026, indicate further widespread electricity outages across several provinces.
