By mid‑2026 Turkey’s Transport and Infrastructure Ministry had inspected nearly 8 million vehicles at 320 stations, classifying faults and emphasising inspections as a tool for safety and emissions reduction. In July 2026 the ministry signed a 20‑year concession (2027‑2047) with the newly created private operator TURKA, a partnership of the Ministry of Interior and OGG. The Treasury received agreement, valued at about US$2.2 billion, included an upfront operating‑rights payment of US$1.72 billion, billion and earmarked roughly US$500 million for new stations and technology, bringing total investment in the upgraded network to roughly US$3 billion.
