The 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) preference period in Turkey concluded on August 10, 2026, at 23:59. Approximately 2.4 million candidates submitted their university program choices via the ÖSYM Candidate Transaction System (AİS). Following the close of the preference window, candidates are now awaiting placement results. While ÖSYM has not issued an official announcement regarding the exact release date, expectations suggest results will be announced no later than August 23. This timeline aligns with the upcoming university registration schedule, which includes electronic registration (e-Kayıt) from August 24–26 and in-person registration from August 24–28, 2026. In conjunction with the YKS cycle, other academic timelines are active: the 2026 DGS results were scheduled for release on August 13, and the ALES/2 results are set for announcement on August 21. Regarding student housing, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has not yet opened the 2026–2027 KYK dormitory application process; applications are expected to begin in late August or early September via e-Devlet, following the YKS placement announcements. Once results are released, students can access them through the official ÖSYM result inquiry system using their T.C. identification numbers and candidate passwords. system. Following the initial registration period, a supplementary placement process (ek tercih) will be initiated to fill any remaining vacant quotas.
