The Turkish Competition Authority has taken regulatory action against companies in different sectors for alleged competition law violations. In late October 2026, the Authority imposed administrative fines totaling approximately 1.3 billion TL on seven forest products companies. The investigation found that these firms engaged in unlawful collusion during timber sales tenders organized by the General Directorate of Forestry, specifically regarding raw materials like MDF and particleboard. While six companies utilized a settlement mechanism, the largest penalties were issued to Kastamonu Entegre and Yıldız Entegre. Shortly thereafter, the Authority launched a new investigation into six major enterprises within the hazelnut trading market. President Birol Küle noted the strategic importance of the sector, as Turkey produces 70 percent of the global supply. The investigation aims to address suspicions of competition violations that could impact the livelihoods of approximately 400,000 families in Black Sea regions. As part of this hazelnut market probe, the Authority is also monitoring Ferrero, the largest buyer in the sector. Following a previous investigation into allegations of market dominance abuse, Ferrero submitted binding commitments for the 2024, 2025, and 2026 seasons. These obligations include limits on seasonal purchase volumes and a requirement not to purchase shelled hazelnuts below the Turkish Soil Products Office (TMO) intervention reference price. The Authority warned that failure to comply with these commitments could result in heavy administrative fines.
