Turkish gendarmerie mounted security patrols
Overview
Mounted gendarmerie units from the Nevşehir Gendarmerie Horse and Dog Training Center (JAKEM) have deployed to various Turkish regions to conduct security and environmental patrols.
Initially, units were deployed to the Balıkesir coast and the Kaz Dağları region to monitor approximately 250 km of shoreline and difficult terrain. These patrols, involving trained horses and gendarmerie personnel, aim to maintain public order, provide crowd control, and assist tourists in popular coastal districts during the summer season.
Following these deployments, mounted teams also commenced patrols at Salda Lake in the Burdur province. These teams are tasked with protecting the region's natural beauty and ensuring visitor safety, specifically targeting forested and coastal areas that are inaccessible to motorized vehicles.
