Turkish law enforcement anti-drug operations

Overview

Turkish authorities have conducted significant operations targeting narcotics trafficking and organized crime. In a large-scale coordinated effort involving 2,000 police personnel across 13 provinces, including Istanbul and Gaziantep, officials dismantled an international network linked to the trafficking of over 10 tons of heroin, cannabis, and cocaine. This operation, supported by Interpol and Europol, resulted in the arrest of 42 suspects and the seizure of assets valued at approximately 7.6 billion TL, including real estate, vehicles, and cryptocurrency.

Subsequent operations by gendarmerie teams in Diyarbakır expanded the focus to include smuggling and the apprehension of wanted individuals. These actions led to the capture of 85 persons facing various charges and the seizure of over 44,000 cannabis plants, as well as smuggled cigarettes and illegal food products.
