U-BT Cluj-Napoca basketball performance

U-BT Cluj-Napoca experienced mixed results in recent professional basketball competitions. In an Adriatic League match at the BT Arena, the team led by coach Mihai Silvășan suffered an 85-92 defeat against BC Dubai, despite holding a halftime lead.

Following that loss, the Romanian champions secured a 94-75 victory against Lithuania’s BC Šiauliai in the EuroCup. After trailing 26-16 early in the game, U-BT Cluj-Napoca regained control to lead 41-40 at halftime and eventually secured a 19-point win behind a 20-point performance from Javonte Smart, with Jalyn Mc Creary and Uros Plavsic each contributing 16 points.

However, the team subsequently suffered a defeat against the London Lions in a highly contentious BKT EuroCup matchup. The game was characterized by physical play and frequent protests regarding officiating. During the match, head coach Mihai Silvăşan was ejected in the 25th minute following “vehement protests against the referees,” while assistant coach Isaac Jenkins received a technical foul in the 33rd minute. The atmosphere at the BT Arena was described as intense, with spectators whistling and jeering at officials and the opposing team.
