The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMéx) has engaged in several developments regarding labor relations and union representation. Following the formal registration of a modified board of directors for the Federation of Autonomous Associations of Academic Personnel (FAAPAUAEM), a new leadership term was established to run from July 2026 to July 2030. University officials and labor representatives emphasized the importance of dialogue and academic autonomy during the transition. Subsequently, UAEMéx and the Sindicato Único de Trabajadores y Empleados al Servicio de la Autónoma mexiquense (SUTESUAEM) initiated a review of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This process seeks to increase transparency and include administrative staff participation. Recent collaborative efforts reported by the university include the allocation of approximately 31 million pesos to improve worker income through various supports and premiums, as well as the provision of personal protective equipment. As of September 2026, Rector Martha Patricia Zarza Delgado and the SUTESUAEM union continue preparations for a transparent review of the Collective Labor Agreement. The university has maintained its focus on improving the income of 901 administrative workers through the aforementioned benefits and premiums.
