A few days later, a new British law came into force that significantly broadened local authorities’ powers to address noisy neighbours. The legislation more than tripled recorded complaints, set a night‑time noise limit of 35 decibels, and gave councils the ability to fine offenders, confiscate audio equipment, and intervene in cases where noise leads to violence.
