Residential development projects across the United Kingdom are advancing through new planning recommendations, financial agreements, and regulatory approvals. In Manchester, major high-rise projects are moving forward. Developer McGoff received a planning recommendation for a 153-flat Build-to-Rent tower, supported by a £27.4m loan from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. Meanwhile, Renaker has reached a Section 106 agreement with Manchester City Council for a large-scale scheme on Great Jackson Street. This development includes the 71-storey Lighthouse and four other towers known as The Green, with potential contributions of up to £114 million toward affordable housing. Further expansion in Manchester includes a proposal by Plymouth Grove Residential to redevelop the Octagon House site on Hathersage Road. Designed by Hodder + Partners, the project involves redeveloping the existing 100,000 sq ft building and constructing three new blocks between four and 11 storeys. The plan aims to provide 682 units, including 455 student homes and housing for healthcare professionals, while the NHS Renal Services centre is expected to remain in situ. In Salford and West London, projects have secured Gateway 2 approval from the Building Safety Regulator. In Salford, the £30m Nexus House project will provide 364 student beds near Salford University. Additionally, a planning application has been filed for 63 affordable homes in the Weaste and Seedley areas on Edward Avenue. Designed by Buttress Architects, this development will consist of two four-storey flat blocks and two blocks of townhouses. In South Acton, the £76m Bollo Yard development will include a 21-storey student tower and 95 affordable homes, with Ealing Council agreeing to a £29m deal to acquire the affordable units for social rent.
