The United Nations has released reports documenting systematic human rights violations against Palestinians in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Initial reports from the UN Human Rights Office focused on the mistreatment of Palestinians attempting to return to Gaza via the Kerem Abu Salem crossing. Testimonies collected between July 7 and August 4, 2026, detailed physical abuse, threats, and the confiscation of essential items such as medication, identification, educational credentials, and cash. On September 14, 2026, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk expressed grave concern regarding potential war crimes in Gaza, noting that many recovered bodies appear to be entire families.
