In July 2026, Francesca Albanese released *When the World Sleeps*, a collection of Palestinian testimonies that repeats findings from her 2023 “Unchilding” report and describes alleged apartheid, occupation, and genocide. She noted that pro-Israel groups and financial sanctions limited its U.S. distribution. A fortnight later, Albanese called for an immediate worldwide arms embargo on Israel, labeling coordinated settler-army attacks in the West Bank a “pogrom.” At the end of July, speaking at the Second Jewish Anti-Zionist Congress in Dublin, she accused the United States of complicity for shielding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from an ICC arrest warrant by allowing him to travel through U.S. airspace and to the White House. She reiterated demands for international boycotts and the suspension of diplomatic ties with Israel. In early August, Albanese’s planned appearance in Germany was blocked by the Deutsch-Israelische Gesellschaft, a lobbying group receiving public funding from the German Foreign Office. In subsequent interviews, she characterized Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide, highlighting the detention and alleged torture of hospital director Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya while criticizing the UN and ICC's inability to enforce law. On August 8, Albanese presented a report to the UN Human Rights Council detailing an extensive humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting that over 90% of the city has been damaged or destroyed. She stated that the international community's silence and continued provision of weapons constitute a ~~"global crime,"~~ “global crime,” comparing the scale of destruction and casualties among journalists and medical workers to historical genocides. By late August, Albanese accused UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer of “outright defamation” after he characterized her as “Hamas’s de facto spokesperson.” Neuer rejected the claims, asserting that “truth is an absolute defense” and citing Albanese’s past statements regarding Hamas and the October 7 massacre.
