The Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT) has engaged in diverse academic and community initiatives. Through its Center for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer (CINOTAM), the university joined an inter-institutional diploma program in Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS) running from late September to December 2026. This collaboration with various Mexican institutions and international participants aims to strengthen competencies in sustainable and cooperative economic models. In addition to academic programs, the university conducted social assistance efforts in Ciudad Madero via the ‘Transformando Familias’ brigade. In partnership with Sistema DIF Tamaulipas, UAT faculty and students from the Tampico campuses of Medicine, Law, and Commerce and Administration provided medical, dental, nutritional, legal, and tax advisory services to vulnerable populations, alongside the distribution of prescription glasses. Expanding its research and academic scope, UAT signed a strategic collaboration agreement with El Colegio de Tamaulipas (COLTAM). Signed by UAT Rector Dámaso Anaya Alvarado and COLTAM Rector Marco Antonio Moreno Castellanos, the alliance focuses on developing joint scientific and academic projects, specifically targeting social economy and territorial research to address regional issues. Regarding institutional capacity, the university reported that approximately 60 percent of its 4,000 faculty members hold doctoral degrees, while nearly 90 percent hold master’s degrees, as part of a strategy to improve educational quality and institutional positioning.
