The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) continues to address dental health challenges through expanded community outreach. Under the ‘UBA en Acción’ initiative, the university has deployed a mobile clinic clinics to various locations. Following operations at Plaza Carrillo Carrillo, the program has moved to the Escuela Técnica de Lugano in Buenos Aires. This initiative offers dental services in conjunction with care alongside ophthalmology, psychology, veterinary services, legal advice, and veterinary care, psychological counseling, with residents able to schedule dental appointments requiring advance scheduling via WhatsApp. In the Tigre Delta region, the ‘Sonríe Tigre’ program—a long-standing collaboration between the municipality and the UBA Faculty of Odontology—continues to provide intensive oral health services to remote island schools. Local officials report that the program’s focus on check-ups, cleanings, and preventative treatments has successfully reduced the prevalence of cavities among students in these rural areas. Concurrently, the College of Dentists of the Province of Buenos Aires has intensified its crackdown on the illegal practice of dentistry. Utilizing a coordinated strategy across ten districts, the institution is conducting field investigations and pursuing administrative and judicial actions against unregistered practitioners. This enforcement effort is supported by a partnership with the General Procuration of the Supreme Court of Justice of Buenos Aires to establish complaint protocols and train professional leaders. Recent enforcement actions have already identified unauthorized dental practices in areas such as Lanús Este.
