The University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) has achieved its first entry into the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2027, placing in the 1,801 to 2,000 global band. This achievement makes it the fifth Ghanaian institution to be included in the rankings. To support research capabilities, the university partnered with Lancaster University for academic writing workshops and is working toward establishing the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation. Following its ranking success, UENR has been identified as the 5th ranked university in Ghana, specifically performing well in Research Environment, Research Quality, and Industry categories. Additionally, the university has launched the Ghana Battery Network (GBN) through its Regional Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability. This initiative seeks to establish a domestic battery industry in Ghana to foster local manufacturing and reduce dependence on imported technology.
