The University of Houston women’s soccer team has maintained a strong presence in Big 12 Conference play. In late September, the Cougars secured a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma State, marking their first time starting conference play with a 3-0 record and achieving their first shutout against the Cowgirls in series history. Following this, the team defeated TCU 2-0 in October. This win was notable as the Cougars’ first victory against the Horn Frogs in 24 years, with the defense and goalkeeper maintaining a shutout during the match. On October 24, the Cougars defeated UCF 1-0 at the UCF Soccer Complex. Bailey Cate scored the decisive goal in the 12th minute following an assist from Jada Arthurs. The victory snapped UCF’s five-match Big 12 winning streak and their undefeated home record. This win marked Houston’s tenth victory of the season, representing their first double-digit win season since 2021 and their sixth conference win since 2001. Goalkeeper Sierra McCluer earned the shutout with two saves, bringing Houston’s record to 10-3-4 overall and 6-2-1 in the Big 12. On October 30, the Cougars secured a 2-0 victory against No. 15 Kansas at the Carl Lewis International Complex. After a scoreless first half, Ella Morgan scored in the 47th minute, and Ava Shannon added a second goal in the 79th minute. The result prevented Kansas from competing for the Big 12 title.
