The University of Talca is marking its 45th anniversary through various institutional and cultural activities. To celebrate, the university launched the ‘Tierra, vid y pincel’ art exhibition at Mall Plaza Maule, featuring works by national painters that honor the wine culture and agricultural landscapes of the Maule region. A formal ceremony held at the Lircay Campus highlighted the institution’s growth since its founding in 1981. The university currently serves more than 13,000 students across five campuses in the Maule, O’Higgins, and Metropolitan regions and maintains a seven-year institutional accreditation. Rector Arcadio Cerda Urrutia emphasized the university’s focus on research, technological transfer, and international scientific projection. During the anniversary commemorations, Rector Cerda Urrutia further noted the institution’s research achievements, stating that between 2019 and 2026, the university was awarded 297 Fondecyt projects. The university, which was established through the merger of regional branches of the University of Chile and the Technical University of the State, continues to prioritize internationalization and the strengthening of its scientific presence both nationally and globally.
