University of Western Macedonia research expansion

Overview

The University of Western Macedonia has expanded its research capabilities through new funding and international partnerships.

Initially, the university secured 3.6 million euros for nine research projects under the ‘I Research – I Innovate’ initiative, part of the ESPA 2021–2027 Competitiveness Program. These projects cover thematic areas such as sustainable energy, life sciences, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Following this funding, the university signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Poland’s Nicolaus Copernicus Academy. This pact aims to facilitate international research, knowledge transfer, and the joint organization of academic events across disciplines ranging from astronomy and physical sciences to economics and legal sciences.
