In late July 2026, United Parcel Service announced an upgraded revenue forecast for the year, lifting its 2026 target to about $91.2 billion from the prior $89.7 billion. The raise stemmed from a strategic shift away from low-margin e-commerce shipments, particularly those for Amazon, toward higher-margin package categories and tighter pricing. Following second-quarter results showing $14.9 billion in revenue—a 6% year-over-year increase—CEO Carol Tomé noted the results marked a “clear turnaround” in performance. Despite surpassing Wall Street earnings expectations with adjusted earnings of $1.76 per share, UPS shares slipped approximately 5% in early US trading. The company detailed that its 18-month “glide-down” reduced Amazon’s revenue share to roughly 9%, down from a pandemic-era peak above 13%. Additionally, CFO Brian Dykes noted that the China-to-U.S. air-cargo lane returned to year-over-year growth in May, with volumes up about 20% following the end of the de-minimis exemption. Expanding on its long-term strategy, UPS announced it is investing more than $2 billion into its international, healthcare, and supply chain solutions businesses through 2028. This capital is directed toward infrastructure projects including a new hub in the Philippines, a facility in Ontario, Canada, and a new air hub at Hong Kong International Airport. The company is also deploying automation and robotics in Taiwan and increasing flight frequencies between key global hubs, such as Paris and Hong Kong, to improve speed and adaptability. Further details of the investment plan include the opening of a hub at Clark Airport in the Philippines in late 2026, a facility in Barrie, Ontario, in 2027, and a major air hub in Hong Kong in 2028. To support high-value sectors like healthcare and high-tech, UPS is also developing 27 temperature-controlled freight cross-dock facilities and a specialized Supply Chain Solutions facility in Amsterdam to integrate freight, brokerage, and cold-chain services.
