In August 2026, Rio de Janeiro Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere announced the Santa Cruz Mobility Plan, an infrastructure initiative designed to improve traffic and transit in the Santa Cruz neighborhood. The project involves an estimated R$ 443 million investment for over 70 kilometers of interventions, including new viaducts, reorganized intersections, and enhanced access for pedestrians, vehicles, and the BRT system.
