In Medellín, the city administration is implementing urban renewal and sanitation strategies focused on public spaces. The ‘Juguemos en el Parque’ initiative, led by First Lady Margarita María Gómez Marín and operated by Inder, aims to transform 80 parks into community hubs for recreation and the protection of children and adolescents. As part of a 2026 municipal plan, 31 of 39 prioritized parks have already been remodeled or adapted. Complementing this, the ‘Tacita de Plata’ program has intervened in over 40 parks, recovering more than 16,000 square meters of public space and removing over 500 cubic meters of solid waste. In Medellín, the ‘Mi Río, Mis Quebradas’ program has also progressed, completing its first four hydraulic works—La Honda, La Aguadita, El Pelón, and La Cabuyala—to mitigate flood risks and improve community safety through canals and retaining walls. The city is further utilizing citizen culture initiatives, such as murals and volunteer workshops, to promote environmental care and waste management. In Bogotá, the Mayor's Office is launching a pilot project in the San Victorino sector to transform the Plazoleta de la Mariposa. This initiative introduces stationary waste containers to improve cleanliness and optimize waste management in the high-traffic commercial area by preventing bag accumulation on street corners.
