Slovenian professional cyclist Urška Žigart, competing for AG Insurance-Soudal, initially utilized the Tour de Femmes in France as preparation for the upcoming World Championships in Montreal, holding third place in the general classification. However, Žigart’s season faces a potential premature end following a crash during the third stage of the Faun Tour in France. Medical examinations confirmed a new jaw fracture, which is a recurrence of an injury she sustained earlier in the season in Switzerland. Her team indicated that she will likely be unable to compete for the remainder of 2026, which may cause her to miss both the European Championships and the World Championships. If she cannot compete, Nika Bobnar is expected to be the sole Slovenian female cyclist representing the country in road and time trial events. The team is currently monitoring her healing process to determine if she can participate in any remaining events. This injury follows a difficult period for the athlete, who had recently returned to competitive form after recovering from her previous fracture. Additionally, her partner, professional cyclist Tadej Pogačar, is also sidelined for the remainder of the season following a crash at the Vuelta a España.
