Overview
Uruguay's export sector experienced a 10% increase in September, reaching US$ 1.398 billion. This monthly growth was driven largely by a 38% year-on-year rise in soybean exports, which totaled US$ 276 million. Other significant export contributors included beef (US$ 233 million) and cellulose (US$ 196 million).
Despite the monthly recovery, the impact of a drought during the first quarter of the year has affected annual figures. While September showed growth, total soybean exports for the first nine months of the year reflect a 32% decline compared to the same period in 2025. China remains the primary destination for these goods, absorbing 87% of soybean exports.
Domestically, the poultry sector reported a 4.1% increase in slaughter compared to the previous year, with rising consumption rates noted by the Uruguayan Chamber of Poultry Processors (Cupra).
