President Donald Trump issued an executive order, titled ‘Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence,’ directing U.S. federal agencies to replace the term ‘artificial intelligence’ with ‘super intelligence’ or ‘SI’ in official communications. The order argues that the term ‘artificial’ is misleading, whereas ‘super intelligence’ better reflects advancing technological capabilities. This policy shift has triggered international and corporate repercussions. In Slovenia, registrations for the ‘.si’ country-code top-level domain surged by over 2,100 percent due to speculative cyber-squatting. Domestically, the rebranding faces political resistance in California, where Governor Gavin Newsom signed an order requiring state agencies to maintain the use of ‘artificial intelligence’ and ‘AI,’ creating a linguistic divide between federal and state communications. In the private sector, Elon Musk announced that SpaceX would rename its artificial intelligence division from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, stating, “No more AI. SI, it’s better.” Musk characterized SpaceX as a ‘super intelligence company’ in a voluntary corporate alignment with the new federal terminology. SpaceXSI manages the Grok chatbot, which is integrated into the X platform and utilized by the U.S. government and military under a $200 million agreement. To coordinate federal efforts in advanced technology development, the U.S. government is establishing a Super Intelligence Force (SIF). Additionally, Musk revealed that SpaceX and Tesla are in preliminary discussions with TSMC regarding the Terafab project in Texas. This semiconductor facility, located in Grimes County, involves an initial $16.8 billion investment with total projected costs potentially exceeding $100 billion, aiming to provide 1 terawatt of computational capacity per year for technologies such as Tesla Optimus robots, autonomous vehicles, and Starlink processing. Intel has already joined the Terafab consortium.
