The United States is advancing regulatory engagement with the cryptocurrency and prediction market industries through high-level meetings and advisory initiatives. Following this meeting, summit, the CFTC will hold the inaugural meeting of its 35-member Innovation Advisory Committee (IAC) on August 20. The IAC will address the evolution of cryptocurrency regulation, the impact of artificial intelligence on derivatives markets, and the rise of agentic finance. The committee is also expected to discuss prediction markets, which face ongoing scrutiny from federal and state authorities. These developments occur as the CLARITY Act remains stalled in the Senate, though a procedural vote is scheduled for mid-September. September 15. The act aims to establish a federal digital asset regulatory structure by dividing oversight between the CFTC and the SEC. While the bill passed the House in July 2025, its passage remains uncertain; the prediction market platform Polymarket currently places the odds of the CLARITY Act becoming law in 2026 at 21%. In the absence of comprehensive legislation, the SEC is reportedly considering new rules for crypto investment contracts and a potential innovation exemption framework to facilitate 24/7 on-chain trading of tokenized stocks. This regulatory activity follows previous administration actions, including the GENIUS Act for stablecoin regulation and executive orders regarding a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
