Following a 6-5 vote, the city directed officials to recommend code changes to address environmental and community impacts, such as residential setbacks and cooling methods. These regulations aim to provide clearer definitions for data centers to prevent them from using warehouse zoning to bypass oversight. While these new standards will apply to future developments, they are not expected to affect five data center projects currently in the development process.
