Researchers from Rutgers University, the Manhattan Institute, and the Network Contagion Research Institute conducted a study examining the relationship between gender ideology and political violence. The research, titled “Where ‘Where the Clinic Meets the Movement: Does Gender Ideology Arm Left-Wing Authoritarian Psychology?”, Psychology?’, surveyed 1,208 U.S. adults. The findings suggest a correlation between the normalization of transgender beliefs and higher levels of left-wing authoritarianism (LWA). Specifically, the study found that individuals supporting certain gender-affirming clinical positions were more likely to justify political violence across six scenarios, including violence against police and specific political figures. HHS Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brian Christine noted that the association warrants “serious ‘serious scientific scrutiny.” scrutiny.’ However, researchers emphasized that the study measures the moral justification of acts rather than intent to commit them, and noted that experimental research is required to establish a causal relationship.
