By late August, Maui’s weather returned to a pattern of scattered showers and breezy conditions. The West Side and South Side were expected to see mostly sunny skies with highs between 81 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Regional variations included the North Shore facing mostly cloudy skies with numerous morning showers and highs near 82 degrees, while Central Maui and Upcountry areas experienced breezy, partly sunny conditions with scattered showers. By September 10, the island continued to experience breezy conditions with varying sunshine and scattered showers. The West Side and Central Maui were forecast to have highs between 79 and 87 degrees with a 40 percent chance of rain. The South Side anticipated mostly sunny conditions with highs around 87 degrees and a 40 percent chance of rain. The North Shore maintained a higher rain probability of 70 percent, with temperatures near the shore around 81 degrees. By mid-September, surf conditions were forecast to build throughout the week as a series of long to medium period south-southwest to south swells filled in. This was expected to result in more consistent sets along south-facing shores by Thursday. By the weekend, a reinforcing southerly swell was predicted to increase surf levels near High Surf Advisory thresholds. Additionally, surf along east-facing shores was expected to increase due to strengthening trade winds and a small, medium-period east swell from the remnants of Norbert, while north-facing shores were expected to remain flat to tiny. By September 21, weather patterns showed varying regional conditions with breezy northeast or east winds expected across most areas. The West Side anticipated mostly sunny and breezy conditions with highs between 81 and 88 degrees Fahrenheit, while Central Maui expected mostly sunny and breezy skies with highs between 82 and 89 degrees. The South Side was forecast to reach highs around 89 degrees. In contrast, the North Shore anticipated scattered morning showers and numerous afternoon showers, with temperatures ranging from 68 to 82 degrees depending on elevation. Upcountry areas were expected to see partly sunny skies with scattered showers and highs between 67 and 83 degrees.
