On 2 August 2026 the Crown Prince called Trump to specifically request that the United States not launch massive air strikes against Iran’s energy infrastructure, cautioning that such attacks could provoke Iranian retaliation against energy facilities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Israel. He asked for clarification on the options under consideration and urged de‑escalation.
Trump was reportedly weighing further strikes after an Iranian missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan. The U.S. State Department expanded travel alerts for Americans in ten regional countries. Regional powers—including Qatar, the UAE, Turkey and Pakistan—pressed both Washington and Tehran to avoid further escalation.
