USMNT and Canada international soccer friendly
Overview
The United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) faced Canada in an international friendly at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Prior to the match, USMNT manager Mauricio Pochettino noted growing squad chemistry following three consecutive wins against Peru, Chile, and Mexico.
The United States won the match 1-0, marking its fourth consecutive victory. Justin Ellis scored the lone goal in the 29th minute, finishing a low shot from Alex Freeman despite sustaining an ankle injury earlier in the half. Head coach Pochettino expressed satisfaction with the squad’s chemistry and the integration of young talent, noting the team maintained high intensity despite playing four matches in two weeks.
Canada struggled to find an equalizer, with Luc de Fougerolles hitting the crossbar in the 63rd minute. The Canadian side also faced injury concerns after Stephen Eustáquio left the pitch with a collarbone injury. This result provides momentum for the USMNT as they prepare for the 2030 World Cup cycle and the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals against Haiti in mid-November.
