Fraudulent schemes targeting electricity utility customers have been reported in different regions of Argentina. In Corrientes, scammers are using Facebook and Instagram advertisements to promise false discounts of 50% for 24 months to retirees and public employees. These criminals use the Dpec logo on WhatsApp to pressure victims into enabling “screen sharing” functions, allowing them to monitor sensitive banking credentials and facilitate unauthorized transfers. In Entre Ríos, the distributor ENERSA reported a different tactic where criminals pose as company personnel to coordinate fraudulent meter changes. In these instances, scammers request WhatsApp verification codes to seize control of users' accounts, subsequently impersonating them to solicit money transfers from their contacts. In Santa Fe, Aguas Santafesinas has issued warnings regarding a wave of water meter thefts and phishing attempts conducted through unofficial digital channels.
