Uttar Pradesh political disputes involving Sanjay Nishad

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad has engaged in a series of political disputes with the Samajwadi Party (SP) regarding social justice and governance.

On Independence Day, Nishad asserted that the NDA government is working to empower displaced castes that suffered during the British and Mughal eras, claiming the current administration prioritizes the weak while previous governments neglected them. He criticized SP leader Akhilesh Yadav for failing to honor martyrs or uplift marginalized communities and argued that economic self-reliance through government schemes is superior to direct cash distribution.

Nishad later responded to allegations from Akhilesh Yadav concerning the actions of the Special Task Force (STF). Nishad defended the government’s law and order mandate, stating that “criminals do not belong to any specific caste” and arguing that current enforcement is more independent and successful in securing convictions than under previous administrations. To counter claims of discrimination, Nishad cited Social Justice Committee data showing significant representation of OBCs and SCs in government jobs.
