Valencia sports club competition results

Overview

Valencia based sports teams achieved initial victories in their respective competitions. In women’s basketball, Valencia Basket secured its first EuroLeague Women win of the season with a 105-47 victory over Rapid Bucuresti.

In women’s football, Valencia CF Femenino earned its first Liga F win following an eight-game losing streak. The team completed a 2-1 comeback against SD Eibar at the Antonio Puchades stadium. After SD Eibar took the lead in the 46th minute via Sara Martín, Yasmin Mrabet equalized in the 55th minute with a header assisted by Pauleta.

The match shifted in the 62nd minute when Gema Climent received a direct red card following a VAR review. Despite playing with ten players, Mrabet scored her second goal in the 67th minute, also via a header assisted by Pauleta, to secure the 2-1 win. This victory serves as a turning point under interim manager Fernando Felipo, following the departure of Mikel Crespo.

In the men’s team, Valencia CF secured its first victory of the Javier Aguirre era by defeating Elche CF 1-0 in a LaLiga match at the Martínez Valero stadium. Nigerian striker Umar Sadiq, returning from a two-month injury layoff, entered the game as a substitute in the 60th minute and scored the decisive goal via a counter-attack assisted by Arnaut Danjuma.

While Elche controlled much of the first half and saw a Lucas Cepeda shot strike the crossbar, Valencia maintained a defensive posture to secure the win. The match also saw Thomas Lemar forced to leave the pitch early due to injury, replaced by Facundo Buonanotte. Manager Javier Aguirre noted the importance of the three points for momentum ahead of their match against Real Madrid, while also highlighting the risk of playing Sadiq before he reached full physical capacity.
