This administrative issue has escalated into a personal and political conflict between Vicent Mompó, president of the Diputación de Valencia, and Minister Diana Morant. Morant accused Mompó of being aware of preventive measures during the flooding event but only notifying his inner circle. Mompó responded with a harsh rebuttal on social media, criticizing Morant for prioritizing media coverage over helping victims and using insults such as ‘the daughter of Zapatero’ and ‘Sánchez’s ass-licker.’ The PSPV has condemned these remarks, describing the language as aggressive and sexist. Mompó later issued an apology to “society in general” to promote a more moderate climate, though he denied the comments were sexist, stating he is not a chauvinist and suggesting that politicians should not “play the victim,” adding that “politics is not for those who come crying.” Morant responded by stating she is not crying but is instead “confronting a machismo that cannot be normalized.” She argued that such insults reflect gender-based violence reported in Spanish courts and emphasized that such language should not be tolerated in political life or the workplace.
