Juanfran Pérez Llorca, President of the Generalitat Valenciana, has addressed several regional and national issues. In late August, he responded to criticisms regarding a new budget provision requiring educational inspectors to ensure ‘ideological neutrality’ and prevent indoctrination, denying allegations of ‘ideological persecution’ against teachers. He also noted that internal political timelines of the People's Party would not affect regional stability or the implementation of budgets for healthcare, housing, and education. By early September, Pérez Llorca defended regional tax cuts, asserting they serve as a primary driver for employment, wealth, and investment. He also commented on the migration crisis in Ceuta, criticizing the central government’s handling of the situation. Regarding teacher protests, he accused leaders from Compromís and the PSOE of hypocrisy, claiming they are now advocating for improvements they allegedly neglected during their previous eight years in power. He defended his ‘government of change,’ stating it has made more progress in education and teacher salaries in three years than the previous ‘Botànic’ administration did in eight. During the final General Policy Debate of the legislature in the Valencian Corts in late September, Pérez Llorca detailed a comprehensive package of 50 to approximately 55 measures. To address environmental stability and the aftermath of the 2024 ‘dana’ floods, he announced 200 million euros for flood prevention and water management, alongside the creation of a Mediterranean Climate Intelligence Center and the ‘Emervalsat’ satellite and drone project. Economic and social proposals include a 10% reduction in the water canon, a 3% reduction in regional taxes, and adjustments to IRPF and wealth tax thresholds. Social measures include a 228 million euro Valencian Inclusion Income (RVI), 60 million euros in rental assistance, and the 2.459 billion euro Avancem Salut Plan to add 2,000 hospital beds.
