Italian rugby champions Valorugby Emilia have made several key signings to strengthen their roster ahead of the upcoming season. In late July, the club signed 29-year-old hooker Marco Manfredi, an experienced international player with previous stints at Northampton Saints, Benetton, and Montpellier. Manfredi joined to support the club’s ambitious project and technical style of play. In mid-August, the club announced the signing of scrum-half Migael Prinsloo. The Italian-South African player joins from the Zebre rugby franchise and will continue to serve as a permit player for Zebre while playing for the “Diavoli.” Prinsloo, who moved to Italy in 2024, cited the high level of the technical staff at Valorugby as a primary reason for joining. On August 19, the club further strengthened its forward pack by signing 28-year-old lock/flanker Enrico Ghigo. Ghigo joins from Petrarca Padova, where he won two Scudetti and two Coppa Italia titles, and brings experience from the Italian national Under 18 and Under 20 teams. Valorugby is scheduled to begin its official season on September 12 in the Supercoppa Italiana against Petrarca.
