Developer poncle announced the ‘Legacy of the Blood Moon’ expansion for Vampire Survivors, scheduled for release on August 28. The DLC was described as the eighth expansion for the title and was noted for its connection to the previous ‘Legacy of the Moonspell’ content. Upon its release, the expansion launched alongside version 1.16.100, which became available on the Nintendo Switch. The update introduced over 10 new characters, such as Malice Bloodmoon and Sargon, as well as more than 16 new weapons and evolutions, including the Scarlet Needle, Incineration, Blacken Firmament, and FireBall. The release also included performance optimizations for CPU and memory usage, fixes for graphical glitches and texture issues, and various quality-of-life improvements regarding frame rate stability and bugs related to item banishing and character selection. To celebrate the launch, poncle announced a promotional campaign running from September 2 through September 30. Players can receive a free bundle containing the base game and the expansion by providing proof of blood donation or contributions to blood-related charities, such as the Red Cross. Participants must submit proof via an online form by October 7. Alternatively, the campaign allows for participation by posting art using the hashtag ‘#BloodForTheBloodmoon’ on social media. The free bundle is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, and Android while supplies last. Under the ‘Blood for the Bloodmoon’ initiative, donors who attend an appointment at a recognized clinic before September 30 can receive free Steam keys for the base game and the expansion. For those unable to donate, poncle is accepting financial contributions to registered blood-related charities and has pledged to match all such donations up to a total of $5,000 USD for the American Red Cross.
