The Vanderbilt Commodores football team secured consecutive victories through late-game performances. On September 12, Vanderbilt defeated the University of Delaware 35-26. Although Delaware held a 17-14 halftime lead, Vanderbilt regained momentum in the third quarter, led by freshman Jared Curtis, to secure the win. On September 18, Vanderbilt achieved a 35-31 victory over NC State. The win was secured in the final seconds when Cayden Daniels recovered an NC State fumble in the end zone for a touchdown, marking the program’s largest comeback since 2012. With six seconds remaining and leading 31-28, NC State attempted to run out the clock by taking an intentional safety, but quarterback CJ Bailey was hit, causing the fumble that led to the walk-off touchdown.
