Vasco da Gama continues its deep runs in knockout competitions while struggling to avoid relegation in the Brasileirão. In the Copa do Brasil, a 0-0 draw in the first leg at the Maracanã on 2 August was followed by a 3-1 victory on 7 August, securing Vasco’s place in the quarter-finals. However, the match resulted in a serious injury for Fluminense’s top scorer, John Kennedy, who suffered a ruptured ACL and is expected to undergo surgery, likely sidelining him for the remainder of the season. In the quarterfinals, Vasco secured a 1-0 victory against Vitória in the first leg at São Januário via an Andrés Gómez goal. Despite playing with ten men for over 80 minutes following a controversial red card for Cauan Barros, Vasco maintained their lead. In the second leg at the Barradão, Vasco secured a 2-0 victory with goals from Andrés Gómez and Puma Rodríguez, advancing to the semifinals with a 3-0 aggregate score. This victory marks Vasco’s third consecutive appearance in the tournament's semifinals. The Copa do Brasil semifinals have been finalized, featuring Palmeiras, Vasco da Gama, Atlético Mineiro, and Grêmio. The CBF has confirmed the schedule for the semifinal matches, which will take place over the first two weekends of November. The first leg is set for 1 November, with Palmeiras facing Vasco at Nubank Parque in São Paulo and Grêmio hosting Atlético-MG in Porto Alegre. The second leg matches will follow the next weekend. Atlético-MG will host Grêmio at Arena MRV on 7 November, while Vasco will host Palmeiras at São Januário on 8 November; the club chose São Januário following difficulties in securing the Maracanã. For the first time in the tournament's history, the final will consist of a single match, scheduled for 6 December at the Mané Garrincha stadium in Brasília.
