Vatican issuance of Venite ad Me document

Overview

The Vatican’s Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith released a document titled ‘Venite ad Me: Considerations on the Transmission of the Faith in an Epochal Change.’ Approved by Pope Leo XIV and initiated by Pope Francis, the text addresses a global crisis in intergenerational faith transmission caused by secularization, individualism, and digital shifts.

The document emphasizes the ‘kerygma’—the primary announcement of Jesus Christ’s love—as the central response to these challenges. It suggests that because faith is no longer passed down automatically within families, the Church must shift focus toward the evangelization of adults in addition to traditional catechesis for children and teenagers.

Presented as a set of ‘considerations’ to stimulate reflection rather than a definitive doctrinal note, the text explores the roles of liturgy, beauty, and personal witness. It also addresses modern influences, including the impact of digital technologies and artificial intelligence, while incorporating diverse testimonies on religious engagement.
