In Venezuela, the National Popular Consultation (Consulta Popular Nacional) has undergone multiple scheduling changes. Originally planned for July, the event was first postponed due to seismic activity in June that affected seven states, including Caracas and La Guaira. Following an initial rescheduling to October 11, Acting President Delcy Rodríguez announced a further postponement to October 18. This adjustment was made to avoid conflict with the commemoration of Indigenous Resistance Day on October 12 and to provide communal circuits and condominium boards more time to consolidate development proposals. Under this initiative, communities propose projects through assemblies, with the top-voted projects receiving government funding. Rodríguez stated the process represents a commitment to “participatory democracy and organized citizenship.” In response to the earthquake damage, the Ministry for Habitat and Housing (Minhvi) has implemented a new registration schedule for housing assistance for families affected by the seismic event. Citizens are being directed to attend offices based on the final digit of their identity cards to register for the Unique Housing Registry.
