Initially, authorities invested over 1.4 million pesos to strengthen the supply of medicines and materials in the Totonacapan region. This was executed region via a mobile health caravan that distributed 49,017 items across 10 health units, including the Hospital de la Comunidad de Entabladero and the Hospital General Papantla Dr. José Buill Belenguer. caravan. Following these distributions, Governor Rocío Nahle García announced the development of a state computer system to optimize hospital supplies. This digital tool is intended to connect with the Institutional Supply System (SACIA) of IMSS Bienestar to monitor stock levels, identify shortages, and facilitate the redistribution of supplies in real-time. Building on these digital and logistical efforts, the state has announced a major overhaul of healthcare infrastructure. Directed by President Claudia Sheinbaum and executed through IMSS-Bienestar, a 3.801 billion peso investment will fund the construction of five new hospitals in Pánuco, Misantla, Tuxpan, Tlapacoyan, and Tempoal. This initiative aims to replace aging or structurally damaged units, such as the 1923 hospital in Pánuco. Additional infrastructure improvements include a 21 million peso rehabilitation project for the Dr. Valentín Gómez Farías Specialty Hospital in Coatzacoalcos, which will feature a new burn unit and a magnetic resonator. To support these facilities, the state is expanding the implementation of the SACIA digital inventory system across 22 health centers to prevent medicine expiration and address shortages. Efforts are also focused on securing specialized staffing and essential services, such as neonatology and blood transfusions, for newly inaugurated facilities. Furthermore, the state plans to reorganize hospital food services by replacing the current subcontracted model with a state-operated model through LIMPIAVER. This transition will involve kitchen upgrades, nutritionist-led menu planning, and the direct purchase of fresh products from local markets.
